“Driving Home for Christmas – Can’t Wait to See Those Faces”?

Before letting Chris Rea serenade my drive home for Christmas from Germany to Poland, I found myself on a flight to Copenhagen. Why? To reconnect with friends and colleagues I hadn’t seen in person for ages. Let me tell you: laughter was shared, stories were exchanged, and the magic of human connection left me inspired for 2025. It felt like hitting the refresh button on my soul. ?

Who would you love to reconnect with before 2024 waves its final goodbye? Or better yet, who’s on your list for 2025? Life is too short not to reach out!

I’ve discovered that connectedness is my superpower. No, it doesn’t come with a cape, but it does come with a knack for a deep conversation and a genuine curiosity about people. Think of me as a connection connoisseur – no small talk, just meaningful exchanges that leave both sides feeling seen and heard. And yet, even as someone who thrives on connection, I often catch myself procrastinating when it comes to reaching out. Sometimes I feel guilty. Sometimes I wonder, “Why don’t they reach out first?” And then I remember that connections often happen when the time is just right. During my recent trip to Copenhagen, that “just right” timing was everywhere. A casual coffee turned into hours of shared stories, and a simple message turned into a reunion I didn’t even know I needed.

So, who’s on your list for 2025?

Maybe it’s a friend you’ve been meaning to call, a colleague you admire, or even someone new you’d love to get to know. Write it down, or better yet, text them right now.

Looking Back on 2024: lessons from the rollercoaster

I’m not a fan of year-end checklists. Instead, I like to think about what I want to leave behind and what I want to carry forward. 2024 threw some curveballs my way: the loss of loved ones, unfulfilled wishes, and a massive shift in identity as I stepped away from my corporate role. If my life were a movie, this year would’ve been the part where the protagonist questions everything. And amidst the challenges, I found gifts – human connection, love, and the courage to follow my passions. I’m carrying these treasures into 2025, along with a deeper consciousness about how I want to serve others and show up in the world. Oh, and gratitude. Lots and lots of gratitude!

Here are my biggest takeaways from the year:

Whatever happens, I am not my circumstances. (And you can repeat after me: I am not that weird email I sent to my colleague last week)
Eagerness can sometimes come across as neediness. (A tough pill to swallow when your passion becomes your profession…)
Ease and balance are possible, even amidst chaos. (Who knew that accepting my chaos would bring me to more ease?)

What about you? What lessons are you choosing to bring into the new year?
